North/South Designation of Subs

Question:

My team played a club today that has teams in the north and south division at the same level/flight. My team played the north team yet our opponents used a sub that was on the south sub list. There was not a sub list for the north flight of that level. Isn't it confusing to divide that sub list into north and south? Why not just have one sub list for that flight (1) out of that club? I assume that sub was legal?

Answer:

Wow. This is the third time I've been asked about this. Yes this was legal. And the reason there's not just one sublist for Flight 1 is the computer. Since our flights are divided into North and South, there is no "just Flight 1". There's only 1N and 1S. And additionally, the computer looks at 1S as being "below" 1N. So in situations where there are teams in both the North and South section of a flight, all the subs are listed in the South so they are eligible in the computer to sub in both. The Flight number is the only thing that matters in looking at a sub's eligibility.
